Chapter 6 The next day was Labor Day, and I was all set to head to Lily's place, rocking some serious raccoon eyes from staying up late arguing with her. Before I could even finish getting ready, there was a knock on the door. I floated over to open the door like a sleep-deprived zombie, and there stood Chris. He looked at me, shook, and asked, "Did you not sleep well last night?" I mumbled a "Mhm" and admitted that I accidentally pulled an all-nighter. His frown game was strong, like he was on a mission to get those wrinkles poppin'. I rolled my eyes internally, and then heard him ask, "Do you have any plans for today? Or is it better to stay home and catch some Z's?" "I made plans with Lily to go to her house," I said. "Do you need something from me?" "No," he quickly denied, then said, "Just checking. If you're going out, let me know and I'll give you a ride." Ohhh, I got it. I asked, "Are you lowkey asking me out?" Caught off guard by my direct question, he hesitated for a moment before nodding. "I only have one day off..." Lily had three days! I happily ditched her; good girlfriends are made for tactical retreats!
